Dental healthy nutrition

In Guide by Views: 3

General

Regardless of whether adult or even child: the diet is vital for our dental health. The food selection affects both structure and hardness of the teeth as the origin and prevention of tooth decay.

The right diet promotes dental health.

Two factors are important in connection with the inclusion of caries-enhancing food: the revenue time – so when your child eats very sugary foods – and the frequency of consumption – so how often does your child to candy.

Not only the renunciation of candy makes up a tooth healthy diet. There are many points to be included when one tooth well would like to eat:

  • The consistency of our food has become increasingly smoother. This restricted the mechanical cleaning, as well as an importance to the meaningful extent tooth abrasion.
  • Sugar and starchy foods provide the basis our mouth bacteria for the production of acid, which in turn leads to tooth decay.
  • The health of gums depends heavily on a full diet.

Nutrition and tooth decay

Continue to the intake of sweets and starch products distributed throughout the day entail a massive plaque formation (bacteria coverings on the teeth). The plaque bacteria produce tooth-destroying acids, and the reduced saliva production can no longer ensure self-cleaning compensation. As a result, Tooth decay, a “hole in the tooth”, is created.

Sugar, the “food” of the acid-producing bacteria, has become a major component of our food. An illusory idea is not to avoid its inclusion or prohibit. There are some basic rules with regard to the inclusion of sugar, which can significantly reduce a caries formation.

Eating behaviour

Just the theme of sweets is a very important, but also more difficult point in the teeth healthy nutrition of children. The aim but not, to ban the children generally sweet, because this often increases the risk that they secretly snacking. It is sufficient to bring a child some simple rules for sweets and snacking close.

Sweets rules:

  • After breakfast, brush teeth!
  • Non-sugar this morning
  • Afternoon not constantly snacking – distributed prefer a slightly larger portion than many small portions over a longer period of time
  • After the more to take no sugary drinks and food evening brushing

More tips for parents

  • You use unsweetened food, the best in the baby age thus is your child not equal to a sweet taste used.
  • For the bottle feeding, use no sugary beverages (e.g. instant teas).
  • Many foods contain hidden sugar, so such as bananas, beverages containing pulp, yogurt, muesli, products with honey – even ketchup and chips are detrimental to tooth.
  • Chew gum after meals supports the mechanical cleaning of the teeth and promotes the positive acting salivating.
  • Allow better off and to sweet in a larger dose and then the child brush their teeth can – here and since many smaller portions have over time damaging on the teeth.
  • Also sweet bars or chocolate that advertise for example with high milk content and suitability for children, contain much sugar. Check therefore the sugar content on the package information.
  • Products bearing the words “no added sugar’ may contain sugar!
  • Tooth-friendly candies contain the “tooth male with screen”-logo.
  • Respect for acid fruits: the excessive consumption can attack the enamel. To avoid an abrasion of attacked enamel by the toothbrush, your child should brush their teeth directly after eating. After the consumption of fruit and fruit juices, it is advisable to wait some time with the brushing your teeth so that the saliva can neutralize the acid naturally or to rinse the mouth with water.

Important nutrients

There are a lot of nutrients and minerals that are vital for the body and may have significant effects on the health of deficiency. The especially significant from the dental perspective food components are:
